The stair parts, then, is very important for all who uses it. We may hire professional stair makers or craftsmen to create the most perfect stairs that we wish from. An inexperienced stair maker can jeopardize the quality of the stairs and in turn, turn our dream homes into nightmare. We can use different materials in making the stair parts. First of all is wood. Wooden stairs create a very beautiful ambiance for any home. It also poses safety and practicality to its users since it is not slippery and is comparably softer than concrete. But, the type of wood is also very important. There are a lot of wood types and not all of them are strong. We must pick a high quality wood to fit the stairs and will last almost a lifetime.
Battery packs come as a sealed unit that is maintenance free. Eventually, however, it will lose its ability to hold a charge and need to be replaced. the battery packs attach to the stair lift or are externally mounted near the charge station. It is a good idea to check the cost of batteries when choosing a stair lift, because they will have to be replaced eventually. Stair lift technology has moved away from the use of household AC power to use of rechargeable DC battery packs. While the batteries recharge on the household current, the lift does not require the household current in order to work, allowing use of the lift during power outages and resulting in a much smoother and quieter ride.
Curved stairs are not as safe as a strait set of stairs. Curved stairs get very narrow on one side. A curved set of steps may be difficult to negotiate in an emergency or fire situation. Handrails should be installed on at least one side of the stairs that has two or more risers. Properly configured stair handrails should 34 inches high and they should be designed to comfortably accommodate a person wrapping their hand around the rail. Guardrails also should accompany a handrail system on a properly configured set of steps. The gaps should be only 4 inches wide so that the body of a child can not fit though the openings.
