Adjustable brackets are designed to be user friendly, fast, accurate and above all, strong. In fact, the brackets do most of the work. They automatically adjust to the exact rise and run and are approved as "adjustable joist hangers". This allows the risers to act like floor joists, carrying the load across the stair between the stringers which means only two stringers are required for stairs up to nine feet in width. Additionally, each stringer requires only three to four end cuts (only six to eight cuts per stair!)....significantly eliminating dozens of saw tooth cuts which are often required for conventional stringers.
Stairs parts are usually defined into two: the steps and the railing system. These two parts are highly connected to one another and should always complement each other to ensure its safety and design. If one part is not of good quality, the over-all look of the stairs and inevitable the house will be destroyed. If the railing is too low or too high, this can endanger the people who are living in that house especially children who likes to play in the stairway. On the other hand, if the steps are unequal and are not functional, this will also be a danger to all who uses the stairs.
Proper stair design has a maximum rise of eight inches, a minimum run of nine inches and a minimum tread width of 9.25 inches. A safe and properly configured stairway should be at 34 inches wide. As a rule the wider steps are safer then narrow stairs. There needs to be adequate headroom above the set of stairs. The required headroom is at least 6 foot 6 inches. When there is a door at the top of a set of steps, it should open away from the stairs for safety reasons. If a door opens toward the stairs a landing is needed so a person opening the door will not be able to push someone on the stairs.
